Tasmania is a wild land, where sprawling landscapes, indigenous culture and an often dark history has given rise to a flourishing art and history scene, where ancient traditions and modern museums exist amongst some of Australia’s most astounding wilderness. On this 8 day tour, students will get to experience a fascinating cross-section of Tasmania’s culture, from visiting the vibrant capital Hobart to gazing across the wild lands of the Tasman Peninsula. They will visit iconic museums such as MONA (Museum of Old and New) and partake in immersive and interactive workshops at institutions such as the Nolan Gallery and School of Art and the NITA Education indigenous centre. They will explore Macquarie Harbour and Port Arthur to learn about their history as some of the first and harshest penal colonies in the country. From quaint artist’s towns to geological marvels, this Tasmania tour is filled with inspiration and intrigue.

Sustainability is a vital topic for the future of our planet. This 9 day tour immerses students in one of the most spectacular regions on the planet and looks at the practices which aim to keep it that way. They will get the opportunity to experience raw and untamed nature in Atherton Tablelands, the wild landscape north of Cairns, where swimming in waterfall pools, exploring the lush rainforest and staying at an eco-lodge will renew their passion for the great outdoors. Yet they will also get a chance to see the technologies ensuring a sustainable future, from visiting a syntropic farm, to learning about wind energy and visiting a bat hospital. The last three days of the tour will see students undertake a volunteer program at Oceans2earth, where they will conduct snorkelling surveys of the Great Barrier Reef, be guided by a marine biologist and spend time contributing positively to its future preservation. This immersive, practical and hugely enjoyable tour will leave students feeling as sense of self-fulfilment and dedication to conserve the environment for future generations.

With the right technologies and a deep understanding of the landscape, nature and agriculture can flourish together, and students will get a first-hand insight into how this is being done with huge success in northern Queensland on this 8-day tour. They will get the opportunity to tour farms in the lush fertile region of Atherton Tablelands, visiting farms from syntropic eco-farms, to wind farms, environmentally conscious banana plantations and biodynamic dairy farms. The region is also rich in native history, and students will also get the opportunity to learn how aboriginal communities have lived in symbiosis with the landscape for centuries as they attend traditional ceremonies and undertake guided rainforest walks. From vibrant Cairns to the beautiful Daintree National Park, where the Great Barrier Reef awaits, this is a trip where compassion for the landscape is combined with modern innovation and ancient traditions.
